Draft for legal review. This policy has not yet been approved and may change before it takes effect.
1. Our commitment
JBF is committed to protecting children and adults at risk from abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination and other harm. Safeguarding is the responsibility of trustees, staff, volunteers, contractors and partners.
2. Scope
This policy is intended to cover scholarships, education, the proposed Future Generation Initiative, ICT training, healthcare and humanitarian outreach, community programmes and online participation.
3. Reporting a concern
Concerns should be taken seriously, recorded factually and reported promptly through approved channels. Staff and volunteers must not carry out unauthorised investigations or promise absolute confidentiality. Where someone faces immediate danger, appropriate emergency or statutory authorities should be contacted without awaiting internal approval.
4. Safer practice
JBF will establish safer recruitment, identity and reference checks, role-appropriate background screening, safeguarding induction, codes of conduct, incident reporting and confidential recordkeeping.
5. Online activities and images
Online activities involving minors require age-appropriate controls, moderation, protection against bullying and grooming, restrictions on inappropriate adult-child contact, and secure data handling. Identifiable child images must not be published without appropriate permission and safety review.
